Looking for answers? Here are some of our more commonly asked questions. If your question isn’t answered here or you have further questions please don’t hesitate to contact us and we’re happy to help! We look forward to making music with you and your child soon.
How long are Rainbow Songs music classes for babies and toddlers?
All of our music classes, regardless of age group, are 40 minutes in length. We allow for a 5 min break between classes for a changeover to the next group of participants.
I would like to enroll mid-session. Do I have to pay for classes which have already passed?
Families join Rainbow Songs at all points through our terms, so we’ve set up our enrollment system to automatically display and charge a prorated amount. Whenever you enroll, you will only be charged for the classes remaining in the term.
I have 2 children of differing ages, how should I enroll them?
This is a very common situation for Rainbow Songs families! We usually recommend enrolling in the class which is age-appropriate for your older child, as long as this works with naps. This ensures that your older child is engaged, and generally we find that younger children are thrilled to be doing an activity with “big kids”. Our staff are very experienced at handling a variety of ages and stages in our classes, and will make sure that everyone is engaged and participating.
We offer a sibling discount – 25% off the fees of the 2nd (or more) child enrolled together in the same class. This discount is automatically applied when you enroll online.
Kids between the ages of 5 months and 5 years must be registered to attend a class with a sibling. Babes in arms (5 months and younger) and older children (age 5 and up) can tag along to a siblings class free of charge, no need to register or pay.
Do you have a discount for twins?
We offer all siblings (including twins, triplets, whatever you have!) 25% off the enrollment of a second (or third) child who is registered in the same class as the first sibling. Again, our online enrollment system will automatically calculate this discount when you enroll in a class.
I have missed some music classes this session, Can I make them up? How?
We understand that sometimes things come up, and you may have to miss a music class. To make the classes more flexible, we are happy to offer 3 make-up classes per session for each enrollee.
Make-up classes need to be scheduled via our system, which you can do yourself by logging into your online account, then selecting the “Book A Makeup Class” option from the “My Account” drop-down menu on the orange bar. The system will guide you through the process. Once complete, you’ll receive a voucher via email for your chosen makeup class.
Make-up classes can be done at any location, subject to space available. If you try to schedule a makeup online, but can’t find a suitable option, please contact the admin team at 416-535-5247 or info@rainbowsongs.com and we’ll try to help.
We highly recommend doing your make-up classes earlier in the term rather than later, as many spots are scooped up quickly towards the end of a session.
Please note that makeups need to be done in the same term as missed classes. Makeups have no cash value, and unused makeups do not roll over to the next term.
I need to bring/send another child to music class with my enrolled child, what should I do?
It’s common for families to occasionally need to bring extra kids to class, especially on PA Days.
Please contact the office by phone or email in advance, whenever you need to bring another child to class along with your enrolled child.
Babies under the age of 5 months, or big kids older than 5, can come along to class anytime, no need to register or pay.
Children ages 6 months to 5 years – siblings or otherwise – can be booked in with drop-in vouchers, as long as there is room. Cost is $28/class (or $21/class for siblings). To book drop-ins, phone us at 416-535-5247 with your Visa or MasterCard information.
We try really hard to keep the music classes at manageable size so that all can enjoy making music together in a fun atmosphere. If you send a child to class without a booking, they will not be allowed to join the class. As these spots are limited and subject to availability, we recommend booking as far in advance as possible.
My child’s schedule has changed in the middle of a session. Can I switch music classes?
Sometimes through the course of a session, you may find that your child’s schedule changes, whether due to fluctuating nap times or other activities in their life. We are happy to switch your child between classes, space permitting. If there are more music classes in the the course you’re switching into, we will need to obtain payment information by phone in order to process the charge for these additional classes. Should there be fewer classes, you will receive a credit on your Rainbow Songs account for this difference.
I need to de-enroll from a session. What are my options?
If you find that you can’t finish the session in which you are enrolled, please let us know (by e-mail or phone) within 5 days of having attended your final class and we will de-enroll your child from the remainder of the session. At this time you will receive an account credit for the value of the remainder of the session.
You can keep this credit for later use (it will never expire), gift or sell it in full to another family, or take a refund minus a $30 admin fee.
Account credits can be used towards a future term, individual drop-in classes, or any other product or service we sell (instruments, CDs, t-shirts, birthday party entertainment, etc).
I am on a waiting list. How will I know if a spot comes up?
Throughout a session, there is often movement within our music classes as people switch classes and change their schedules. Therefore putting your name on a waiting list can often pay off! If a spot becomes available, our system will automatically send an e-mail to the first person on the waiting list, noting the music class and including a link to our enrollment system. We allow for 72hrs from the first e-mail in which you can accept or decline a make-up spot, but will remind you a couple more times in those 3 days. Should you not respond in the allotted time, we will go to the next person on the list and your name will be removed from the waiting list.
If you are already enrolled in a music class and would like to accept a spot, simply give us a call or respond to your waiting list e-mail (within your allotted 72hrs) and let us know that you would like to accept this spot. We will complete this switch from our end and confirm when it has been completed.
I need to change my contact information on my Rainbow Songs account. How do I do that?
You can easily change any of your personal info through your online account. Simply login to your Rainbow Songs account, then select the “Adults” tab. From there, you can choose the “Edit” option at the end of the row to change any of the contact info connected to that particular adult. And that’s all there is to it!!
The weather is poor. How can I find out if classes are cancelled?
Toronto weather can be changeable! In the winter, we may see some storms or forecasted storms. In Summer months, outdoor park classes may be interrupted by rain.
For indoor classes at any time of year, as a rule Rainbow Songs will go ahead unless the building itself is closed.
For park classes, Rainbow Songs will go ahead as long as it is not raining. If it does rain, classes will either move to their designated indoor site, or be cancelled (if no indoor option available.)
In all circumstances, in case of closures or site changes we will put updates on our social media accounts (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram) and also email all class participants.
If you don’t see a notice but are unsure, we recommend phoning our office at 416-535-5247 to double-check. The admin team is currently available weekdays 9AM to 4PM.
I would like to purchase one of the instruments we used in a Rainbow Songs music class. How can I go do this?
Rainbow Songs makes class instruments available for sale when possible. You can buy these quickly and easily through our online shop, at – http://toronto.rainbowsongs.com/shop.
I’m doing my taxes and was wondering if Rainbow Songs music classes were eligible for any tax credits?
From 2012-2016, Rainbow Songs classes were eligible for children’s activity and children’s arts activity federal income tax credits.
At present time, there are no longer any tax credits available for Rainbow Songs classes (or any other similar children’s activity).
Sometimes parents/guardians may need an invoice to show that they are the primary caregiver of their child. Rainbow Songs automatically emails an invoice to your address on file upon enrollment, which you can use for this purpose. We are happy to resend if you find that you have misplaced this email – call or email us to request it.
